DAWN DAWN LEGATO

Dawn Legato is the sharp, mid 30's female reporter tagging along with Task Force Cimarron at the time of THE PILOT.

At one time, during her last year studying Journalism, Dawn was engaged to RIGEL Aerospace heir Robert MacManus.  As she was participating on her final co-op assignment with the highly rated NEWSNET 7 channel Dawn learned of the events of THE FARSIDE INCIDENT and feeling that the participants deserved reward for preventing a World War she unilaterally decided to file a report on the incident.

As this violated an agreement between the New Soviet and the United Network, and forced the public's eye into the events of the Farside Incident, Command was forced to discipline the members of the 655 Squadron which included FINNEGAN.

MacManus, realizing he couldn't trust Dawn, broke off the engagement.  Dawn was hired full-time by Newsnet 7 because of the story but quickly found that she was being deliberately blocked out by people because she had proven herself untrustworthy.

Over time she proved she had learned her lesson and somehow she even earned embedded status, which allows her to tag along with highly classified and covert missions, recording everything for history, but with limits what she can report.  As Dawn herself is a news junkie she's willing to make this compromise, partly because its the way things work, but mostly because the only person she thinks needs to know what's really going on is herself.
