Things are just starting to settle down on INDEPEDENCE when we see the first conflict the BERSERKER PROBE as it demolishes the Destroyer BOISE. MacMANUS and RIJL FOUR are sent to investigate which takes them first to the BATTLE GROUP HAMILTON and then off toward the suspected source of the PROBE the system of SAIN KOOPERALD. But pulling into orbit around the target world in the SAIN KOOPERALD system is more difficult than it appears and MacMANUS wakes up in the back of a covered wagon heading to a Gathering some days after RIJL FOUR’s crash with no memory of how he got there. Later we meet LUKAS.
