TRANSPARENCY OR HARPOCRISY

I won't kid you, I have issues with some Liberal policies, and the NDP pie-in-the-sky Polyanna outlook scares the crap out of me, but the reason I support the Liberals has to do with the biggest difference between Liberal (Democrat) and Conservative (Republican) politics, and that's transparency.

This week, the final act of the still Democrat controlled US Senate Intellegence Committee was to release a horrific report on CIA abuses since 9/11 which also point out that the CIA lied to those they were accountable to in all levels of Government and that their methods were ineffective. This would never have happened under a Republican/Conservative controlled house.

In 2006, Paul Martin's Liberals initiated a Public Inquiry on the Adscam Affair that had wasted $25 Million over 5 years, a $5 Million a year waste of taxpayer money, and because of the inquiry people were punished or imprisoned for it.

Harper's been PM for coming on 8 years. By the most modest of estimates his Government has wasted more than $600 Million in taxpayer funded self-promoting Canada Action Plan ads of questionable effect, they've passed over 20 Omnibus bills with overreaching penalties for offenders, nearly ALL of which have been gutted by the courts as unconstitutional, and despite dozens of scandals each year NOT ONE PUBLIC INQUIRY has been launched and none of his Ministers have ever resigned for their failures.

He's kept power through strategic prorogation and by making you fear the alternative. The transparent and accountable alternative, the Liberals.

We vote no later than October 2015. I'll vote for transparent and accountable government thank you. It may not be perfect, but at least there's a moral center in there somewhere.
