PEMI
Abbrev. of pemican (also pemmican), a food prepared by North American First Nations from lean, dried strips of meat pounded into paste, mixed with berries and fat, and pressed into small cakes; or a food like pemican used as emergency rations.   The mix has the added benefit of helping reduce risk of scurvy.   During the Eco-Crisis this mixture entered mass production through a company in Regina, WestCan that used a reduced meat, supplemented soy mixture with Saskatchewan Berries, which helped reduce the impact of disease in the early days of the crisis.   PEMIKAN ™ remains a major supplier to Network N-Rations.
